The profession of journalism holds a significant place in raising and strengthening public awareness while always prioritizing the public interest. I sincerely celebrate the Working Journalists’ Day of our valued colleagues, who are the eyes and ears of the public and work under challenging conditions. Journalism is a profession with honorable and highly meaningful responsibilities. As a society, it is impossible not to appreciate the hardships these colleagues endure and the tireless effort they put in day and night.

Our press has shown remarkable development from past to present, expanding not only in print and visual media but also increasingly in digital platforms, contributing to the strengthening of our democracy. Undoubtedly, the greatest credit for this progress belongs to the press workers who perform their duties selflessly.

Press professionals, who play a vital role in informing the public and strengthening peace, security, and social harmony, carry out their work with an objective and impartial approach despite different opinions and perspectives. Working under difficult conditions, these journalists fight for society’s right to access information, contributing to pluralism while also playing a crucial role in the healthy functioning of democracy. The contribution of our press institutions, alongside civil society organizations, has been significant in bringing Kırıkkale to its current economic and social standing.

With these thoughts, guided by Atatürk’s principle that “the press is a nation’s collective voice,” I sincerely celebrate Working Journalists’ Day on January 10 for all journalists who continue their work with great dedication within the framework of journalistic ethics, and I respectfully remember those journalists who have passed away.
